To Adventure

To be sent out joining God in great creative adventures which renew all things and call others home.

to adventure

We long that all people would be confident that they are loved, accepted and valued by the living God, the Father –with God getting all the glory for all He enables us to become and do.

We worship Jesus in Spirit and truth, as people from all ages and backgrounds, and long for children and young people to live life in all its fullness, ministering to the whole church family.

We pray that our buildings bless the whole community, with space to meet God, make friends, and live like Jesus.

We adventure with God as our people become a movement of disciples, equipped to follow Jesus Monday through Sunday at home and in the workplace – this is how we change the world, because we did the ‘ordinary’ things well in partnership with God and all His children.

Values

Our values inform our ‘culture’ here at Christ Church W4.

What we embody as God’s people, and the characteristics we strive to pursue. This set of values were formed in 2012, inspired by all of the richness of Scripture, but particularly the incredible Gospel of Mark.

  • We base our teaching and ministry on the inspired word of God, and Christ revealed throughout both the Old & New Testaments. We seek to be a ‘tower of truth’.

  • (See Luke 15!) Whether it’s vibrant, abandoned sung worship on Sundays, Summer Fairs, or bouncy castles in church – we believe that following Jesus means enjoying ‘life to the full.’ We long to be good news for the community.

  • Jesus’ message was ‘Repent and believe the good news’ (Mark 6:12), because the Kingdom of God is here. We are realistic that we need to change our ways of thinking and acting – to begin to live God’s way.

  • John the Baptist knew that He needed to decrease in profile and popularity, and Jesus needed to increase. We’re learning that we can do nothing of eternal value without God.

  • Jesus needed to be filled with the Spirit before He started His ministry, and He promised to give the Holy Spirit without limit to every follower of His who asks for Him to be in their lives. The Holy Spirit has been called 'God's empowering Presence'. We long to be a people filled and empowered by the Spirit in all we do.

  • In a world where many grow up without a father, it’s more important than ever to know we are deeply loved, accepted, and valued by our heavenly Father. Jesus reveals God as ‘Abba’ — a personal, loving Father. Our true security and identity come from knowing Him through Christ.

  • As He walked by Galilee, Jesus invited the first disciples and said 'Come follow me'. We know that we have a purpose because in the same way Jesus has called us.

  • Jesus never said that life will be trial-free. There may be battles in life but we’ve read the end of the book!

  • God’s desire is to make us whole — in body, mind, heart, and spirit. While some healing may not come this side of eternity, we still pray, “Let Your Kingdom come on earth as in heaven,” and trust that change is possible now.

  • Jesus upset people who valued religion over relationships and the work God was doing in people. When God is doing something it is often messy. We want to join in whatever God is doing and follow him wherever He goes.
