In an extract from a baptism talk Richard explains how the Christian faith gives us hope in this world:
Jesus’ death at calvary gives us hope that we don’t have to carry the rubbish in our life any longer.
Jesus’ victory over death at the resurrection gives us hope of life beyond death
Jesus’ sending the Holy Spirit heals our ‘orphan spirits’ and gives us the security that we are loved, accepted and valued, like a perfect Mother, Father and sibling might do.
Jesus’ second coming gives us assurance that one day all the things we hate about this world - suffering, pain, injustice - will be dealt with.
Jesus’ delay in coming back gives us opportunity to turn to him and receive eternal life.
